October 25 and 26

Due to block scheduling, I will only see each class once during the next two days. Here's what's happening in class...

Math 8 students are playing some heated games of Coordinate Plane Battleship to practice plotting points on the coordinate plane. During the second half of the block, they are completing a mini-review of chapter 2 vocabulary and working out problems with the white boards. I have noticed students are having particular problems with section 2.7, so it would be a good idea to review that one in detail.

Integrated I students spent quite a bit of time reviewing the slope-intercept form homework. Luckily, this content will not be on this week's chapter 4 test...but I promised it isn't going away! The rest of the class time was used to complete a study guide for the chapter 4 test. Students received ALL correct answers before they left class today.

The only homework for my classes is to study for their respective quizzes/tests.

October 24

Today math 8 classes got a little break from algebra ("Are we finally done with algebra?" one student asked...by the way, the answer is NO WAY!!!!) to learn about the coordinate plane.

Integrated students are learning about slope-intercept form, a much easier way to graph lines than a traditional t-chart! (Although I'm not certain THEY are convinced it's easier...yet!)

Homework:

Hours 1, 5, 6, 8: 2.8 Practice B 1-15
Hour 2: 2.8 Practice A 1-21
Hour 3: 11.7 Practice C 1-17

October 12

The math 8 quiz has been postponed to Tuesday, October 17th!!!!

Today classes were shortened due to the early release, so we didn't have much time to learn new material. Students did receive their Blue Jay PRIDE stickers for the first six weeks. If you have not heard of the program or have questions, you can refer to the hand out your child was given in math class today.

There is no homework for any math class. Enjoy the long weekend!
